ACP Grand Survey 2016

ACP is proud to present the ACP Grand Survey 2016 - the most detailed opinion poll related to the professional chess ever released. Everybody is invited to participate, whereas the answers of the ACP members will serve us as the very important indication for our further actions. It is not just a questionnaire, we need to know your opinion in order to represent the professional chess community in the best possible way in our discussions with FIDE, continental and national institutions and tournament organizers. ACP-FIDE veterans' program 2016

The ACP-FIDE veterans' program continues for the third year. As it was in 2014 and 2015, six distinguished chess veterans will get an award of 5000 USD each. Here is the list of awardees for 2016 :

ACP prizes at European Championship 2016

Regulations of the European Championship 2016 are published. We hope it will be an exciting event. Once again, the cooperation between ACP, ECU and local organizers results in a special 10.000 Euro prize fund, exclusively for the ACP Premium members, whilst the total prize fund (120K) and special conditions for the 2700+ players make the event quite an attraction for the European chess professionals. ACP continues the cooperation with Gibraltar Chess Festival

ACP continues the cooperation with the Best Tournament of 2014 - Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival, introducing by now a traditional ACP Prize in the event.

The prize will be awarded to the highest-placed ACP Premium Member in the Masters tournament who didn't win any of the regular or category prizes. The amount of the prize will match the amount of the last regular prize paid in the main tournament, for a sum not exceeding 1000 pounds.

In order to be eligible for a prize, a player has to issue/confirm his/her 2016 Membership before Jan.27

Summary of the General Assembly of the ACP

The General Assembly of the ACP took place from November 28 to December 13 2015. All the Premium and Standard Members who were registered before November 28, 2014 had the right to vote both in the Assembly and the General Elections.

The voting was conducted via a specially designed page by the ACP and it included several question. Below you can see the results of the General Elections of the new ACP Board for the period 2016-2019.

Vasily Ivanchuk wins the ACP Masters in Ashdod

Vassily Ivanchuk from Ukraine is the winner of the ACP Masters rapid super tournament that ended on Thursday in the Israeli city of Ashdod. The Ukraine No.1 beat Frenchman Etienne Bacrot in the final match 2.5: 0.5 to take home the title and the 10.000 $ first prize. The match, initially set for 4 games, ended already after game 3 following a vigorous start 2:0 and a comfortable draw. The first game saw a quiet line in the Spanish where after multiple piece exchanges Bacrot, as black, found himself with 2 pawns down in a hopeless rook ending.

Dear colleagues and friends,

 

Time flies fast, and it is now almost four years since yours truly was elected to the ACP Presidency.

These were very exciting and fruitful years, full of work and everyday tasks.

 

Summarizing it, I'd say that ACP Board can be really proud of its achievements, promoting the professional chess in various ways.
